Terms of Use
Effective August 1, 2026
These Terms of Use govern access to and use of the Horizon Bookkeeping Services website. By using this website, you agree to these terms. Client bookkeeping services are governed by a separate written service agreement or engagement terms.
1. General information only
Website content is provided for general informational and educational purposes. It is not accounting, assurance, audit, tax, legal, investment, lending, or other professional advice and should not be relied on as a substitute for advice from an appropriately qualified professional.
2. Scope of bookkeeping services
Horizon provides bookkeeping and related administrative support only within the scope agreed with each client. Services may include transaction recording, reconciliations, reporting, QuickBooks support, sales-tax record organization, and catch-up or cleanup work.
Unless expressly agreed in writing and permitted within Horizon’s scope, services do not include audits, reviews, compilations, legal opinions, tax advice, tax return preparation, investment advice, credit approval, loan brokerage, or guarantees that financing will be obtained.
3. Lender-ready records and financing
Horizon may help organize records and reports in a format that supports discussions with accountants or lenders. “Lender-ready” means records are organized, current, and prepared with common lender information needs in mind. It does not mean that records have been audited or independently verified, and it does not guarantee approval, terms, pricing, or availability of financing. Lending decisions are made solely by the applicable lender.
4. Accuracy and client responsibilities
Bookkeeping results depend on the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of information supplied by the client. Clients remain responsible for reviewing reports, providing requested documents, identifying personal or unusual transactions, safeguarding credentials, maintaining supporting records, and making final business, tax, and financing decisions.
5. Website inquiries do not create a client relationship
Submitting a contact form, sending an email, or attending an introductory consultation does not create a client relationship. A relationship begins only after Horizon accepts the engagement and the parties agree to applicable service terms.
6. No guarantee of outcomes
Horizon does not guarantee business growth, profitability, tax results, financing approval, lender acceptance, or any other outcome. Financial reports are based on records and information provided and may be subject to later adjustments by the client’s accountant or other professional adviser.
7. Intellectual property
The website design, branding, written content, graphics, and other materials are owned by Horizon or used with permission. They may not be copied, republished, sold, or distributed for commercial purposes without written permission. Reasonable sharing of links to public articles is permitted.
8. Acceptable use
You may not use the website to interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, transmit malicious code, submit false or unlawful information, infringe another person’s rights, or use content in a misleading manner.
9. Third-party links and services
The website may link to government agencies, software providers, professional resources, or other third parties. Horizon does not control and is not responsible for their content, availability, security, terms, or privacy practices.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Horizon is not liable for losses arising from reliance on general website information, website interruption, third-party websites, security incidents beyond reasonable control, or decisions made without obtaining appropriate professional advice. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded.
11. Indemnity
You agree to be responsible for losses or claims arising from your unlawful use of the website, violation of these terms, or infringement of another party’s rights.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Manitoba and the applicable laws of Canada. Any dispute relating to the website will be subject to the courts located in Manitoba, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
13. Changes
Horizon may update these terms from time to time. The current version will be posted on this page with its effective date.
14. Contact
Questions about these terms may be submitted through our contact page.
